It doesn't seem real...

"Dr. Fallwell was rushed to the hospital this morning, and he died...."

I didn't think it was possible. Jerry can't die. He's our school's founder. Our chancellor. Our grandfather figure. Our pastor. He'll be around "forever"--well, at least until I graduate....

Those were the thoughts running through my head when I heard the rumor that Dr. Falwell passed away Tuesday afternoon. I was with my girl friends eating macaroni and cheese at sheila's apartment. We rushed to the internet (no TV! haha) to check the news. It was all over msnbc.com, foxnews.com, etc that Jerry had been rushed to the hospital. But we weren't sure whether he was still alive or not. We held hands and said a prayer for him and his family.

Then Amy got a call from the TV news station where she work. It had been confirmed: Jerry Falwell passed on to heaven.

Yesterday I walked through the grand lobby of our large academic building. I walked up to his casket and prepared myself for what I'd see. There he was....looking like he was sleeping, as he held his Bible in his hand. He's really gone from this earth. But I'm sure he's having the time of his life with the Lord right now...maybe my grandfather is even chillin' with Jerry :)

We'll miss you, Jerry. The school won't be the same without you. Thank you for loving us kids and for starting the college that has changed my life.

a very "me" comic

Um this is SO me....(the pig, that is.) I lack knowledge in the area of "technical stuff" when it comes to photography (though I've learned a lot through my class this semester.) My dad sent me this and I thought I'd share :)

Micah you might have laughed, too :)

"lost, now found"

Last Monday evening, I took a couple's engagement photos. It was so much fun walking around downtown, discovering quaint doorways and textured walls. We also went to a gorgeous, old cemetary and took some beautiful ones in a gazebo and on the cobblestone paths.

I hope to post more when I edit them.

For now, here's one of the girl. This wasn't an "engagement pose"--more for fun. I used it for photography class as well. Enjoy :)

We're all Hokies Today

Yesterday, some of us gathered on the football field to take the following picture which will be sent to VT. Photographer was Anna Chaffins.

vtashversion

This might make you tear up...but it's really meaningful. Click on the link, then click "watch e-video." The lyrics are below (written by two former VT students.)

http://www.wset.com/news/stories/0407/416294.html

Lyrics for "Forever Changed VT Memorial"
On just an ordinary day,
A weapon drawn, and lives forever changed
One act of violence made the world stop and watch
And on a drillfield by candlelight we prayed

And with questions on our minds, we wonder where the future lies
As we look up to heaven with hope in our eyes

Where do we go from here
Can we overcome this fear
And find a healing for the pain, and see the sun beyond the rain

We've got the strength to endure,
And soon we'll feel more secure
In a world filled with hate, we need to become something great

Oh God, send your mercy this way, for we're all Hokies today

Verse 2:
And to the ones who fell that day
In our hearts your love will never fade away
We're picking up the pieces to build a better tomorrow
We'll find a joy, to move on from the sorrow

By the color of the leaves, you know He has us on his mind
So we look up to heaven with hope in our eyes

Where do we go from here
Can we overcome this fear
And find a healing for the pain, and see the sun behind the rain

We've got the strength to endure,
And someday we'll feel more secure
In a world full of hate, we need to become something great

Oh God, send your mercy this way, cuz we're all Hokies today

The spirit lives on, don't let it be gone, let it shine forever
And through the heartbreak, for the lost and their sakes, let it bring us together

several thrills

Hi world :)

Ok so I just have to share my excitement....I was able to meet the mother of one of my heros.

C_0743400526

I wish I could meet the ACTUAL girl that I've looked up to and admired since I was 11....Cassie Bernall. But she's in Heaven with her Lord. As most of you know, Cassie "said yes" to the Columbine shooter 8 years ago...and therefore was martyred for Christ.

Last Friday was the 8th anniversary of Columbine. Cassie's mother spoke to us briefly here at school....I had the pleasure of meeting her and talking with her afterwards. (One of the school's professional photographers captured this photo, and I'm glad I have it.) She's an amazing woman who has been through a lot. But she KNOWS Cassie's purpose was to stand up for Christ in her last moment of living. Powerful...

ALSO, Erin and I went to VA Tech over the weekend. The Lord was AMAZING and answered our prayers...we had some neat opportunities to talk with people. Including SEVERAL Scientologists. Scientology is so very strange...it's more of a "school of thought" than a religion. (I even met a "Christian scientologist"--go figure.) God gave me the words to say...I was SO bold talking with these three guys. I asked them all kinds of questions about heaven, hell, salvation, Jesus, people, the purpose of life, etc. We had AWESOME discussion. And I KNOW Erin and I planted seeds.

It was heartbreaking to see the building where the shooting of 30+ individuals happened. The memorials were heartwarming. Wow...powerful stuff. :/

God is so good. I just have to make it through the next REALLY HARD few weeks....can't believe I'm almost done with my second year of college.

<3 you guys
